Discussing weight issues with your kids can certainly be a sensitive one. You don’t want to sound critical, but it’s important to express concern too.

Sometimes as parents we need to step back and ask ourselves if we’ve been saying the wrong things. If our comments are hurtful in the slightest, they’re probably not worth saying!

The Shake Weight: Scientific Validity?

We all had a good laugh at the expense of the “Shake Weight” this past year. And while we were laughing at it, its creators were laughing all the way to the bank.

Grandparent Carers Boost Obesity Risk

A report published in the International Journal of Obesity, based on data from 12,000 children, found that kids who are looked after by their grandparents are more likely to be overweight than kids cared for by childminders or parents.

Society clearly has a huge impact on self image. Sadly, 80% of women are unhappy with their appearance and 4 out of 5 ten-year-olds are scared of being fat. Now more than ever people are struggling with eating disorders and becoming obsessed with their appearance due to the unrealistic expectations society has demanded. To put it simply, something has to change in our society.

Maybe I’m just extremely nosey, but I’ve often wondered what makes people choose certain dishes. Do they have a list of “acceptable” foods, or perhaps it’s much more random, picking and choosing at will.
